A highly unusual carpet possibly woven by a Kurdish weaver in Northwest Persia. The brilliant red field is filled with diagonally laid rows of octagons in various colours, each of which is filled with a large-scale star. Three narrow floral borders frame the central field. Note the eight ladies that have been inserted along the left and right parts of the red panel, probably representing members of the weaver’s family or tribal group.
