Together with her son Anupam, Lekha harnessed her passion for art by establishing Devi Art Foundation in 2005. The Foundation has a collection of contemporary art from South Asia. It also has a collection of vernacular art and textiles.

Leheriya phulkari hand embroidered on a cotton base in yellow and white raw silk threads, with muti-coloured border. Phulkari refers to folk embroidery from Punjab. There are many varieties of this embroidery which covers the entire base cloth. It was an integral part of Punjabi weddings and this tradition continues till date. This textile is over 12 years old and comes from the personal collection of Lekha Poddar.
