Anu Chowdhury-Sorabjee has been organising exhibitions of Indian traditional folk and tribal art for the past 20 years in India and abroad. She works with award-winning folk and tribal artists to promote their work and create awareness on the various art forms in India through workshops, publications and exhibitions and has formed Indian Arts Collective, an artists collective with folk and tribal artists.

This Mata ni Pachedi painting by Sanjay Chitara depicts Momai Mata, a godess worshipped by the indigenous community. According to the legend, When people of the nomadic Vaghari community of Gujarat were barred from entering temples, they made their own shrines with depictions of the Mother Goddess on cloth.
