Rambha is one of the celestial nymphs in Hindu mythology and Lord Indra's go-to messenger, and is said to be unrivalled in her accomplishments in the arts of dancing, music, and beauty. She is used by Lord Indra in breaking the penance of several sages as he fears the power of the sages and knowing that he cannot match them in their austerity, sends his apsaras to woo them and curb their powers. Here the beautiful Rambha is depicted in all her finery as she looks on longingly, which at once captivates the onlooker.
