This oleograph published by the Ravi Varma Press depicts the goddess Sarawati. This depiction of the goddess became incredibly popular and was used by advertisers throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The oleograph itself is extremely rare, as most were, and continues to remain in worship. Here Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, is depicted in the most exquisite jewellery, with a veena in her hands and a deer sitting at her feet.
