Seema Kohli articulates her whirlpool of thoughts on her colourful swarming canvases, addressing gender issues which appear as undercurrents. Procreation and recycling as natural phenomena are central themes in her work which appears in a strange mix of floating women. They often appear in semi-anthropomorphic forms accompanied by birds, animals, flowers and fish. There is a dynamic energy at play in her work that the artist describes as a kinetic force or ‘Maya’.
