POST-INDEPENDENCE INDIAN CINEMA (5-6 JULY 2016)

This is a No-reserve Auction. All bidding begins from Rs 1,650/ $25.

In the 1950s--following India's independence from a 200-year-old colonial rule--Indian cinema, too, broke from its western antecedents and entered a Golden Age. Marked by a spirit of revolution and the need to form its own cinematic identity, this period lasted nearly three decades and produced critically acclaimed films and exceptional actors, filmmakers and musicians.

Our no-reserve auction offers 50 lots featuring Bollywood posters, lobby cards, exclusive photos and lobby stills--from the early years that saw actors like Sunil Dutt, Madhubala, and Waheeda Rehman light up the screen, to superstars such as Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra who ushered in a new wave of dynamism.

Sales touched a total of Rs 2,28,900(US $3,468)  Read more..
