About Bollywoods German Origins

StoryLTD is delighted to bring forth a collection of photographs by the pioneering German cinematographer Josef Wirsching (1903-1967), who shot numerous iconic films during the early years of Bollywood. First of which was the historic silent film "The Light of Asia"- 1925 and last of which was "Pakeezha"- 1972. These 20 Black and White photos are personal witnesses to the birth of the Indian film industry, and were once used as publicity stills and merchandising material for the films made at the celebrated "Bombay Talkies" film studios during the 1930's. Rare and historic, they have been carefully preserved by the Wirsching family since they were shot 8 decades ago. Over the past few years the family has archived and digitally enhanced them into flawless, large format, limited edition, numbered, canvas prints now being made available to discerning collectors.
