A beautiful West African textile, probably woven in the region of Ghana. Often described as a Kente cloth, these textiles were created by Ewe weavers and show an abstract grid created by small rectangle shapes of weavings made by different weavers, some in plain cloth and some in a thicker flatweave kilim warp and weft structure, stitched together to create a large colourful collage. These textiles were originally used by royals in a ceremonial context. Unusual rare use of green fabric in this unique example.
