This large stucco head originates from South India. It would have once been part of an architectural wall of a post-Independence period building. Many such structures had decorative wall narrative elements which would at times be painted as well. The large size is an indication that the full figure would have been of life-size. The beige colour tone, gentle benign smile, and soft patination make the sculpture striking in appearance.
