A rare horse blanket weaving from Southwest Persia, possibly woven by a Qashqai artisan. The mustard yellow or burnt orange base weaving is in the flatweave technique, overlaid with supplementary weft embroidered wool knots forming various decorative elements representing flora and fauna. The two long “arms” serve the purpose of securing the blanket to the back of the horse by forming a loop around the animal’s neck.
