A beautiful Persian tribal carpet possibly made by the Shahsavan group in North Persia. The deep indigo field is completely filled with the legendary icons for the four cosmic forces, representing fire, earth, water and sky. A rare border surrounds the field with a base of undyed ivory wool background filled with silhouettes of paisley ‘boteh’.
