Sir Walter Scott's Waverley Books is a long series of novels. They were among the most popular and widely read books in Europe for over a century. The Novels expressed his belief in the need for social progress that does not reject the traditions of the past. He was the first author to depict sympathetic and realistic peasant characters, businesspeople, warriors, and even monarchs.
Because Scott did not officially recognize authorship until 1827, the series is named after Waverley, the series' first novel, which was published in 1814. It includes well-known works like Rob Roy and The Antiquary. This edition is one of the earliest examples of this work and a beautiful set!
