LETTER OF RABINDRANATH TAGORE


This hand written letter by Rabindranath Tagore is in black ink on the letterhead of Hotel Algonquin, New York measuring 16.8 x 13 cm, signed "Rabindranath Tagore" (lower right) and dated "Dec.20.1920" on the top right corner.

The following lines are written in the letter and it goes like this:-

"Dear Madam
I am sorry I shall not be able to accept the kind invitation you have sent to me in behalf of the Sorosis Club to meet your members at the luncheon on New Year's day, as I shall be away from New York on that date. Thanking you for kindness -
I remain
Yours sincerely
Rabindranath Tagore"

Sorosis (est. March 1868) of New York City was the first professional women's club in the United States.
