Signed by Souza on front endpaper: "To Manny & Pat with love and good wishes from Francis / London Aug. 1963". Collectors Emmanuel and Patricia Harris appear in the book in the list of collectors at the end as Mr and Mrs E Harris.

The essay extends to 45 pages and there is a 3-page list of collectors at the end which includes Manny. The first and seminal biography and appreciation of Souza written soon after he had established himself in London and written by a close friend and critic.
