Including Pennant's Tours, Arthur Young's Travels in France, Pigafetta's Voyage round the World, Park's Travels in Africa, Abstracts of Cook's Voyages, Niebuhr's Travels in Arabia, Turpin's History of Siam, Hamilton's Accounts of the East Indies, Kempfer's History of Japan, Hamel'sTravels in Korea, Nieuhoff's Travels in China, etc. D.N.B. John Pinkerton (1758-1826). 'The [above work] was a useful compilation in its day, being the most voluminous that had hitherto appeared with the exception of the French 'Histoire Generale des Voyages' (Paris, 1785) . A large number of very rare volumes of travels were incorporated, and the average merit of the plates was considerable.
